Option Three: “General
English Plus Examinations” Course:
At LSI, students
can choose to prepare for the following internationally-recognised
English language examinations:
The IELTS test: The International
English Language Testing System. This is the key language
qualification which is required for entry into British,
Australian (and many American) universities and colleges
of higher education. LSI is one of the few private language
schools to have been accredited by the British Council
as an official testing centre. We hold one examination
every month. At
LSI, students can be given their exam results within
13 working days! We can also assist and give advice
to students with their university applications. In 2007,
the cost of the IELTS exam will be around £95
in addition to the tuition fee. Please indicate on the
Registration Form if you would like to take the IELTS
test while you are at LSI and choose the test date you
would like from the dates below.
IELTS Exam dates 2007: Academic Module: 25th January, 15th February, 24th February, 10th March, 31st March, 19th April, 12th May, 24th May, 9th June, 16th June, 7th July, 21st July, 16th August, 8th September, 20th September, 25th October, 15th November, 8th December. General Training Module: 15th February, 24th February, 10th March, 31st March, 12th May, 24th May, 16th June, 7th July, 21st July, 16th August, 8th September, 15th November.
The main focus of the Option 3 "General
English plus Examination" course is on preparation
for the IELTS examination. Students who wish to prepare
for one of the Cambridge Examinations will need to take
the Option 4 General English Plus One-to-One Course
in which the 1-1 component focuses entirely on Cambridge
preparation.

(1) PET - Preliminary English Test (2) FCE - First
Certificate in English (3) CAE – Cambridge Advanced
English (4) CPE – Cambridge Proficiency in English
