| HOW TO GET TO PORTSMOUTH
GETTING TO LSI BY ROAD
Whether coming in from the East or the West on the
M-27, take the M-275 Portsmouth
- Follow the 2-lane highway over the flyover until
you come to a roundabout
- At the roundabout go straight on (2nd exit), staying
on 3-lane road
- After 150 metres, you will come to another roundabout
- turn right here (you cannot go straight on), into
Hope Street
- At the next roundabout, go straight (onto Market
Way) and then again straight at the next roundabout
(onto Alfred Road)
- At the traffic lights, take the middle lane, and
go straight down Anglesea Road, passing under the
Railway Bridge, and past the large grey ship-shaped
building on the left
- At the end of Anglesea Road, take the right-hand
lane and go round the large traffic island roundabout
into Lord Montgomery Way
- Turn left into Hampshire Terrace, then first left
into Wiltshire Street, then first left again
- Park in front of the The Old Vic pub (remember to
put money in the parking meter)
- If you look down the street, you will see Language
Specialists International in front of you

GETTING TO LSI BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Instructions for reaching Portsmouth from London, Gatwick
Airport, Heathrow Airport & Southampton Eastleigh
Airport
1. From London:
- Waterloo Station:
2 direct trains every hour, travel time 1 hour 20
minutes.
- Get out at Portsmouth and Southsea station.
- Victoria Station:
2 trains every hour, time approx. 2 hours.
- You may need to change trains at either Barnham
or Horsham.
- Get out at Portsmouth and Southsea station.
2. From Gatwick Airport:
- One hourly train direct, one hourly train changing
at either Barnham or Horsham.
- Get out at Portsmouth and Southsea station.
3. From Heathrow Airport:
Shuttle bus to Woking (every 30 minutes) and twice-hourly
direct train to Portsmouth and Southsea (Time approximately
70 minutes Woking-Portsmouth).
There is also a direct coach service from Heathrow
to Portsmouth.
4. From Southampton Eastleigh Airport:
Either taxi (about £30) or train (taxi to train
station about £3) and twice-hourly direct train
from Eastleigh to Portsmouth and Southsea station.

On arrival at Portsmouth and Southsea station, take
a taxi to your host family. The cost should not be more
than £5.
Students being met at the airport by taxi:
As you come out of the Customs Hall, look for a driver
carrying a dark blue signboard showing L.S.I’s
name and logo and your name. There may be many drivers
with signboards, so look carefully.
If you cannot see the driver, go to the Airport Information
desk in the Arrivals Hall, near the exit from Customs,
and ask the staff “Please could you page the driver
from LSI Portsmouth, meeting …. (your name)”.
Please wait for 5 minutes, and in the unlikely event
that the driver does not appear, please call the following
emergency number:

outside Britain).
If all else fails, take a taxi to your family and we
will refund your money in full on the morning of your
